On March 5th, 2016, Cabrillo College Theatre Arts Department is sponsoring Fire in the Heart, as WORLD THEATRE NIGHT 2016, a celebration featuring 20 local and national artists who have used the performing arts in their own lives to address trauma and recovery, including substance abuse, violence and major health issues.

FIRE IN THE HEART shows how the arts can help us process, heal, and transcend traumatic events, whether they be in our own lives or the lives of others, while entertaining and enriching us at the same time.

Chadeish Yameinu is a VIP sponsor as our own Reb Eli and Akindele Bankole are in the cast – and VIP tickets are available now (include reserved seats and VIP reception) with your tax-deductible donation of $100 going directly to the artists. After the first of the year, tickets will be on sale for the Crocker Theatre, and they range from $5-$15 (which Cabrillo keeps to cover their costs) - so everyone can afford to come!!!

During this year we are hosting a series of gatherings to learn about ways we can approach talking about death and putting plans in place that reflect our values and desires for how we hope to live and die. Our third session will be on Tuesday evening, March 8 at 7:00 pm at Temple Beth El. Please join us even if you were unable to attend the previous sessions. Our upcoming evening will focus on Jewish practices surrounding death and bereavement. Judaism blesses us with a rich array of ways to support each other in these challenging moments. We will share the Jewish journey that begins with the dying person’s last prayer and continues through the ongoing rituals of remembrance, both personal and communal. We know that these conversations aren't easy but there is good news. We live in a time when tools and organizations exist to help us navigate the challenging terrain of death, bereavement and memorial observances. (Please note... Maimonides Circle is invited to attend this Conversation, in lieu of a separate meeting this month).

Join us for a Shabbat Evening Service, Friday, March 11, 7:30 pm. For this special Shabbat service, we will join with Temple Beth El in honoring Marilyn Rigler, long time Jewish community member, as an Eishet Chayil (Woman of Valor). All are welcome. (An oneg (refreshments) follows.
